We're BMB

Three is the magic number.

Inside DLRA Brief History of The DocklandsThey say good things come in threes and this proved to be the case for our PR team last week as great news came through of a trio of award nominations for our work with the Docklands Light Railway.

Over the last 18 months we have been working closely with DLR’s Communications Team to develop an employee engagement programme – Inside DLR – with the aim of increasing the exchange of knowledge between departments, improving productivity and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

In addition, to mark the opening of its 40th station at Woolwich Arsenal, DLR wanted to promote the role that the railway has played in the development of the Docklands area, highlighting the size of the network and encouraging increased use of the service by a variety of passengers. We produced A Brief History of the Docklands – a unique publication that gives readers an informative and entertaining insight into the history of each Docklands location served by a DLR station.

Both projects have been shortlisted as finalists in the CIPR PRide Awards and A Brief History of the Docklands is also in the running for Best Marketing Publication at the Community Rail Awards.

The winners will be announced in the coming weeks – we’re dusting off the smart suits and fancy frocks as we speak – so keep those fingers and toes crossed and make sure you check back to see how we get on.

The Cream of the Crop.

Saab Cream Awards

If anyone spots a man in our reception with a tape measure it’ll be someone trying to figure out how we find more room for our ever increasing collection of awards. Yes, we did it again! At the 2008 Cream Awards, held last night at the Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, we scooped two more Silver Awards – one for environmental/3D Design for our 2008 Robert Horne Exhibition stand and the other for Best Promotional Item for our ‘Design a Saab’ brochure.

Congratulations to everyone involved for their hard work on some great projects – now, about those hangovers…

A Safe bet.

With Health and Safety in the news, it’s good to be recognised for tangibly improving the safety of people’s lives. Our long standing friends at National Grid rightly picked up the ‘Campaign of the Year’ – a national award for Safety at this year’s IOSH awards inside the flashy Hilton Park Lane the other night. We’ve both worked very hard on bringing the ‘Trusted to Work Responsibly’ campaign to life over the past 18 months, so when NG invited us to the awards do, we were delighted to attend (on the interests of client relationship building, not the free nosh). After completing the statutory risk assessment, we identified the greatest risk was probably elbowing our neighboring award-goers on raising a glass in celebration. Careful seating avoided injury avoided there. The second risk was looking silly whilst dancing on excess wine, but we couldn’t find the dance area (nothing to do with double vision after winning). Well enough rambling, we’d better get back to doing more award-winning work for them before they notice…

Well done to all involved, and for not injuring themselves on the night.

And the winner is…

They say things happen in threes so we’re on the lookout for one more piece of good news this week after learning that we’d been nominated in two categories at this year’s Event Awards.

Following the strict judging process, we emerged with a shot at both Exhibition Stand of the Year – for our work with the CIOB at Ecobuild 2008 – and Agency of the Year – for our continued abiltity to deliver high quality results across a range of exhibition projects.

The news comes shortly after we were named ‘Stand Design & Build Supplier Of The Year’ by the Association of Event Organisers and everyone in the Agency has toes, fingers and unmentionables crossed for another positive outcome this time around.

The Awards presentation is on Friday 26th September so don’t forget to check back then to see how we get on…

BMB named agency
of the year.

AEO award

Wow, well, what can we say. BMB have JUST been named Stand Design & Build Supplier of the Year 2008 by the Association of Event Organisers. We won the top gong at the event to beat off stiff competition from some other big agencies organising live events for household brands. Everyone has worked their socks off this year, and pulled out some truly great work, and this award is recognition of that effort. Download our PDF of Live work to see some of it, or click the work category filter on this blog.

Come back to our Blog tomorrow for photos of us celebrating and enjoying our drink responsibly…

Oh. and WELL DONE EVERYBODY! :-

Mick, our ex-getaway driver delivery man and all round handy bloke, was seen pushing old awards to one side last week to clear a space. He’d been given the word that the two pieces we entered into this year’s Shout Awards won top honours! The first one was a load of rubbish, and the second one was full of hot air (They were the titles of the work not the judges comments). So well done to everyone for the fab work, it’s always nice to be rewarded for all those late evenings working and ordering pizzas from our local takeaway. There was also a fancy flash-book thingymewhatsit on their site with all the work in.

The ‘Load of rubbish’ pieces are our very own Live Department’s self-promo mailers, and fancy-fold-out pieces printed on Robert Horne’s uncoated Imagine paper. We love RH and relish using their stocks (Dan is even considering getting a tattoo with their logo across his back). Full of hot air was our mailer’s title for the Robert Horne event we blogged about last week.

(Mick isn’t really an ex-getaway driver. For legal reasons).
