We're BMB

Good things come to those that wait.

L1070566blogL1070572blogOnly a year or so late, but we’ve just received our lovely Robert Horne Shout Awards 08 Book, in which we won the coveted ‘Best Exhibition’ Catergory for our Z-A Exhibition. This had nothing to do with us having two creatives from BMB on the Judging Panel or indeed the fact that it was an Exhibition for Robert Horne themselves. It was purely down to the simple, yet extremely clever creativity. That’s our story and we’ve sticking to it. Anyway, it’s arrival has put a smile on all our faces, mainly down to us being slightly high from sniffing the intoxicating Munken stock.

Is it that time already?

Yes, we can’t quite believe it ourselves but the first awards ceremony of the year has sneaked up on us as the PR team head to the Hilton on Park Lane today for the HSBC Rail Business Awards 2010. Once again we’re hoping our internal communications programme for DLR will be recognised at what we have been assured is the Oscars of the rail industry – complete with gushing acceptance speeches.

We’ll be tweeting updates throughout the evening and will have a full report tomorrow – good luck everybody!

One night. Two golds.

Fantastic news from the CIPR Pride Awards on Friday after we scooped not one, but two Gold Awards:

Internal Communications – Inside DLR

Best Publication – A Brief History of the Docklands – A Station by Station Guide

It was very satisfying to see all of our hard work paying off. Both projects received the recognition they deserve with some great comments from the judges and we also had the chance to celebrate with our friends from DLR.

Ding ding, round two.

Well, after Team BMB returned from Wednesday night’s awards empty handed, the suits and dresses have been to the dry cleaners, the shoe polish has been out and we’re ready for this evening’s trip to Surrey for the CIPR Pride Awards.

Yet again it’s our work with DLR that’s in the spotlight – an internal communications programme and the much-lauded History of The Docklands brochure.

All fingers are crossed that tonight will see us pick up at least one trophy, hopefully two. Usual rules apply – keep an eye out for the live twitter update and a full report will follow next week.

Going for gold.

It’s awards evening again and Team BMB are heading to the ballroom of the Park Lane Hotel on Piccadilly to see if they can land the gong for Best Corporate Publication at the CorpComms Awards 2009.

We’ve been nominated for the History of The Docklands piece we produced for DLR and it is a project which has already proved to be a winner after scooping a prize this year’s Community Rail Awards in September.

Apparently the ballroom is where Queen Elizabeth herself learned to dance so we’ll be praying some of those skills will rub off on our team as they take to the floor for what we hope will be a celebratory jig later tonight.

We’ll be posting a live Twitter update to this site throughout the evening so keep an eye out for the results. There’ll also be a full write up following the event.

Awards update…

DSCF1789 copyP1010737aFor those of you that weren’t able to follow our live Twitter update on Friday night from the Community Rail Awards, we can bring you the news that we came runners-up in our category – Best Marketing Publication. Although disappointed not to win, we had a fun evening with our friends from DLR and particularly enjoyed looking through the signed photos in the hotel bar. With such classics on display as Cannon and Ball, Carol Vorderman, Sir Cliff and Gary Wilmot, we knew we were in for a special night.

Fingers are now crossed that we can build on this when the results are announced in November for the CIPR PRide and Corporate Communications Awards.

Pre-Award nerves.

3050799946_976095e135_o 800pixelToday marks an exciting – not forgetting long and tiring – day for our PR team as they head up to a very beautiful part of the country – Cumbria – for the Community Rail Awards.

The event takes place in Carlisle so getting up there from Luton will probably feel like a never ending journey – particularly for the designated driver – but it will be worth it to meet up with our friends from DLR and see if we can nab an award to add to our growing collection.

You can follow our progress live on this site as the team will be tweeting hourly updates on everything from the motorway traffic, quality of food, style of speeches and best dance moves. A full report with pictures will follow next week.

Good luck PR team – and let’s hope Saturday morning isn’t too painful!

Happy Mondays.

L1050694aMore good news for our PR team today after we received a call from the organisers of the Corp Comms Awards with confirmation that we’ve been nominated in their Best Corporate Publications category. Yet again it’s the A Brief History of The Docklands publication that we produced for DLR which has caught the eye.

Already up for two awards, the booklet has proven to be a real hit with the client, Docklands residents, local schools and now three sets of awards judges. Fingers are crossed that we can come up trumps with the first of the awards presentations taking place this Friday in Carlisle.

Three is the magic number.

Inside DLRA Brief History of The DocklandsThey say good things come in threes and this proved to be the case for our PR team last week as great news came through of a trio of award nominations for our work with the Docklands Light Railway.

Over the last 18 months we have been working closely with DLR’s Communications Team to develop an employee engagement programme – Inside DLR – with the aim of increasing the exchange of knowledge between departments, improving productivity and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

In addition, to mark the opening of its 40th station at Woolwich Arsenal, DLR wanted to promote the role that the railway has played in the development of the Docklands area, highlighting the size of the network and encouraging increased use of the service by a variety of passengers. We produced A Brief History of the Docklands – a unique publication that gives readers an informative and entertaining insight into the history of each Docklands location served by a DLR station.

Both projects have been shortlisted as finalists in the CIPR PRide Awards and A Brief History of the Docklands is also in the running for Best Marketing Publication at the Community Rail Awards.

The winners will be announced in the coming weeks – we’re dusting off the smart suits and fancy frocks as we speak – so keep those fingers and toes crossed and make sure you check back to see how we get on.

The Cream of the Crop.

Saab Cream Awards

If anyone spots a man in our reception with a tape measure it’ll be someone trying to figure out how we find more room for our ever increasing collection of awards. Yes, we did it again! At the 2008 Cream Awards, held last night at the Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, we scooped two more Silver Awards – one for environmental/3D Design for our 2008 Robert Horne Exhibition stand and the other for Best Promotional Item for our ‘Design a Saab’ brochure.

Congratulations to everyone involved for their hard work on some great projects – now, about those hangovers…
